In less than a year, South Beloit will be throwing the party of the Century! Please join us in our party planning efforts!
South Beloit was established as a City in 1917, meaning that the Centennial Celebration Planning is upon us. The City of South Beloit has proclaimed that in August of 2017, the City will celebrate its Centennial. South Beloit Commissioner Tom Fitzgerald has recruited a team of historical society members, fireball energy and longtime residents to get things started.
The Centennial Committee wants YOU!
We are currently trying to establish sub-committees and chairpersons to help lead several projects, including efforts with each of the schools, sponsorship and book advertisements, red and white football game in City Park, the best firework show South Beloit has ever seen, seeking Centennial Celebrities, a once in a 100 year quality parade, local parade floats, time capsule and SO MUCH more!
Anyone who would like to join the committee and help plan Centennial events should contact Sonya Baden at sonya.baden@yahoo.com or call City Hall (815) 389-3023 and leave contact information including a name and phone number.
The group will continue to meet monthly at the Sand Castle, 201 S. Eighth St., South Beloit. The next meeting is Wednesday, October 12th, 6:00 pm. (Please note: starting in November, our meeting day will change)
