Nature Kids Adventures In The 100 Acre Woods – free program – Ages 4-7 @ Nature At The Confluence Campus

Bring the kids to find adventures in the “100 Acre Woods” at Nature At the Confluence!

Each week features a fun, new theme inspired by Winnie-The-Pooh stories. 

  • Held each Tuesday, 10am-11:00am June 18 through July 23.
  • Featuring Stories Under the Big Tree and Pooh’s Pop Up Discovery Stops & Thinking Spots
  • Recommended for ages 4-7. Siblings are welcome.
  • Must be accompanied by an adult. This is not a drop off program, adult must stay with the kids.
  • Free Program! *
  • No registration needed.
  • Come once, or come for all!
  • These themes also repeat throughout the summer on various Saturday and Sundays. Click here to view free programs.

  • July 16- Rain, Rain, Don’t Go Away! – Blustery Day, Watershed, Pooh Sticks
  • July 23 – What’s the Buzz About Prairies? – Discover who lives in the prairie – plants, monarchs, bees, birds, fox & more!

Storytime for Littles @ South Beloit Library

Bring your little ones for Story Time For Littles! This program is a time for rhymes, books and songs geared for those under 36 months of age.  This program is offered every Thursday at 10 am.

Bookends & Backbends!
Jul 18 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Join us for a great library program, Bookends and Backbends.  It is a yoga-inspired library experience geared for youth ages 8 and up but all ages are welcome. It is a time to explore focusing ability, fun, and physical well-being. The program is filled with yoga-inspired poses and games, along with meditative and literary elements. It’s normally held each Thursday evening beginning at 6 pm at the library but PLEASE NOTE: July 18 it will be at the Nature at the Confluence Center at 306 Dickop St. in South Beloit.

Community Fire & Drum Circle @ Nature At The Confluence Campus

Our July Drum Circle has a new twist!
This month special feature is Yoga for Kids (Bookends and Backbends) with South Beloit Library and a special storytelling feature with fur trader reenactor “Huna Mato“, who will spin a tale about the early adventurers that roamed these lands and rivers.

Whether you’re a seasoned drummer, or have never picked up a drum, you are invited to participate! We have all kinds of fun percussion instruments for you to try!

  • Free S’mores are always part of the fun.
  • Hula Hoops, Dance Ribbons!
  • No registration, Free event!
  • Fun for the whole family!
  • Event is cancelled if there is rain.
  • Join in the fun each month on the 3rd Thursday, June-Sept, 6:30-8:00pm

Fireflies Program with Welty Environmental @ Nature at the Confluence

Fireflies are fun for the entire family!

These luminescent beetles are members of the family Lampyridae. They are reported to be most active in the Wisconsin between July 1 and August 26th and Illinois between May 8th and October 5th, so we are sure to see a few.

Come out to the Nature at the Confluence to learn more about these amazing insects. We will read a story, learning about behavior, life cycle, and why they glow. Then we will try to catch and observe a few on a nature hike

Prickly Plants & Rolling Rocks Day Camp with Welty Environmental | Adventures In The 100 Acre Woods @ Nature at the Confluence
Jul 25 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

 

Campers will explore Nature at the Confluence learning how to identify plants and creating their own plant journals. They will Learn about plant life cycles and role plants play in habitats. Then they will learn about the geology of the stateline area, including how rocks change over time. They will find and make their own rock buddies to take home.

Youth program, ages 6 to 12 years. Please dress to be outside and bring a sack lunch, sun screen, bug repentant, and a full change of clothes.

$30/FWEC members, $35/non-members

Cameras At The Confluence: Zoom, Zoom! @ Nature at the Confluence

Thursday, July 25, 6:30 p.m., “Zoom, Zoom!” with featured photographer Mark Preuschl.

Let’s share some tips on how & when to perform zoom photography and then we’ll get outdoors to practice some shots.

Cameras At The Confluence is free monthly program that features a new photography topic each month with special guest speakers and experts. Participants will have time to discuss and try new techniques and share tips during the program.

This free program, held at Nature At The Confluence Learning Center, 306 Dickop Street, South Beloit, Ill, is open to area photographers of all skill levels and no registration is required.

Beloit photographer Mark Preuschl will be the facilitator at each program and each month a photographer that specializes in the monthly topic will be the guest presenter.

Saturday, November 16, 2:30 p.m., “Available Light” features holiday shooting. Get ready to capture the colors the season. This is the end of season social, with light refreshments, and opportunity to give feedback and give ideas for new subjects for 2020. Featured photographer to be announced.

We’ll meet monthly, on the last Monday of the month except for in December we will meet on Mon. the 17th instead.   This program is for adults only.

Regular City Council Meetings are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 5:00PM.
All meetings are held at South Beloit City Hall, 519 Blackhawk Blvd. in the City Council Chambers. The public is welcome to attend.

All special City Council Meetings, Council Committee Meetings, and Council Advisory Meetings will be held with at least a 48 hour notice.

Little Builders Club for 6 and under @ South Beloit Library

Little Builders Club is for those under 6 years of age.  It will be held the first Monday of each month at 6 pm. Builders will be using Duplo blocks and Mega block- style blocks for their constructions. This is a free-style play time.
